Penetration of Mobile Phones in US

In the early 2000s, the percent of Americans that owned cellphones was 60–70%.

Pew Research Center tracks recent data on the percent of Americans that own cellphones and smartphones. 96% own cellphones with 81% for smartphones.

As mobile banking continues to grow, we should see the smartphone penetration reach the 96% level. Cost to the user is the likely deterrent.
